The cost of a cheap logo isn't just immediate spend. A few-hundred-dollar delivery often gives only a graphic file, with no color spec, no font notes, and no multi-scenario adaptation. When you need packaging, social media, or ads, you'll find the original file is unusable and have to pay someone to redo it.
The more hidden cost is in "communication and rework." When the quote is too low, the designer has no incentive to do upfront research and stage confirmation, making misdirection more likely. A full rework consumes not just budget, but also your launch timeline.
That said, more expensive isn't automatically better. The key is whether the quote includes the deliverables you truly need, how many revision rounds, and source files and licenses. Write these into your requirements, then look at the price — your judgment will be much clearer.
