The Ideal Communication Rhythm for a Brand Design Project

Many troubled collaborations aren't about design ability, but about misaligned rhythm. A fairly safe rhythm roughly has five steps.

Kickoff: both sides align on goals, audience, and success criteria, translating vague "looks good" into measurable requirements. Direction: first present 2–3 directions to choose from, confirm the tone before proceeding, rather than silently finishing a whole draft. First draft: deepen the chosen direction and deliver a concrete, discussable plan. Revision: iterate based on clear feedback, with scope written into the contract to avoid endless back-and-forth. Delivery: hand over source files, specs, and templates, with a brief handover if needed.

Each step has a confirmation point — far steadier than "pay the deposit and wait a month for the finished product."
